New PAN card

  • What is PAN ? Permanent Account Number (PAN) is a ten-digit alphanumeric identifier, issued by Income Tax Department. Each applicant (e.g. individual, firm, company etc.) is issued a unique PAN.
  • Who can apply for PAN ? Any indian citizen or foreign national including minors can apply for PAN Card. Any person, who intends to enter into economic or financial transactions where quoting PAN is mandatory, must also have a PAN.

How to apply for a New PAN Card Online…

  1. Fill up the form, Confirm the information and make the payment online
  2. Take Print-out of the application.
  3. Any applicant wrongly filled any detail in application form while applying online, then the applicant
    can correct the detail by using whitener
  4. Two colored photos(only in case of individuals) should be pasted/affixed (strapless) in the two boxes provided at top of the application (Click here to view Sample form).
  5. Make 3 signatures in Blank Ink (see Sample Form on website) as below :-
    1. In the box below the right hand side photo (Nothing on Photo).
    2. Across the Left hand side photo (partialy on paper and partially on photo).
    3. In the Bottom Box in right hand side
  6. Name and father’s name should exactly match with identity proof such as Driving license or Passport or Other proofs as per list of Identity Proofs
  7. In case of minor, application should be signed by guardian only with the photos of minor and only ID of the guardian should be required.
  8. Send hard copy of application complete in all respect (2 photos and 1+2 signatures in black ink) along with copy of proof/s of identity, address and date of birth by speed/registered post a post(preferably)/ reliable courier at following address :-

  9. For further details, please also read Procedure & Instruction in (English) or (Hindi) carefully.
  10. After receiving hard copy of your application complete in all respect, your aplication will be got processed and a 15 digit Numbered acknowledgement/receipt will be sent on
    your e-mail. You may/should track/check status of your PAN application after 7 days from the date of this receipt by clicking on ‘Pan Status (NSDL)’ on www.pancard.org.in or ‘PAN Status’ www.etdsdsc.com -> ‘Select application type’ – PAN-New / Change request > type 15 digit Acknowledgment No > SUBMIT.

    Recently i did pan card to my sister. In that DOB wrongly they have given. She wants to get some service benefits from BSNL. Is it in any objection from BSNL. Kindly advice.

    My sister name has changed after marriage.
    as proof she have D/O/B Certificate & Bank Statement But both name has difference.

    Then how she can apply for PAN CARD ?
    what Village Head Certificate is valid document for Pan Card ?
    & which document was required for that ?

    1. Dear Das,

      Minor difference in DOP proof & Bank Statement is not serious problem but bank statement is eligible for only for address proof. You can get bank certificate on bank’s letter pad in prescribed format which will be eligible for Nama and address. Please see the list of eligible proof on http://www.pancard.org.in

  3. hello sir, recently i’ve applied pancard and got Rejected due to wrong info in the last name… i’ve submitted aadhar card, voter id and current bill for the address verification but rejected due to the wrong last name’s in both card’s

      1. I’ve Contacted the Service provider and they Said to re submit the Documents for Verification.. I Want to confirm that I’ve Initial Name in my Aadhar Card and Voter ID Card Without Surname. So, I mentioned with Surname in Pan Application. So,they Rejected due to the mismatch of Lastname.. then now what i have to do…? kindly Reply sir..

        Name in Proof of Identity does not contain last name in expanded form as mentioned in application.

    For getting PAN

    Can I submit Notarized affidavit as proof of date of birth? for whom does not have any proof of birth. or is there any other source without going to the Magistrate/ Rank holder.

    Please inform me sir..
